About

Sue Glasgow is an Irish-born artist based in Long Melford, Suffolk. She paints mainly in oils.
Sue describes herself as a colourist. Her landscapes are rich and vibrant, capturing the shapes and musical rhythms of nature in a space between naturalism and abstraction. There is a quiet spirituality in her work which is drawn from her rich Irish memories growing up in Killarney and the big skies of her home in Suffolk. Sue is also passionate about portraiture and has painted a number of commissions of people and dogs.
Sue was a member of The Somerton Set, a group of talented Suffolk artists mentored by the artist and illustrator, Rui Paes, for a number of years. She exhibited with this group at Lavenham Hall Gallery in 2023. Sue now hosts a monthly art class at her studio in Long Melford for local artists tutored by Ione Hunter-Gordon.
Sue has participated at workshops on portraiture with the American artist, Rob Liberace, in 2023 and 2025, and Trois Crayons with Tyler Berry and Chelsea Bard in 2024. She attends regular life drawing classes in Long Melford.
Sue lives in Long Melford with her husband Julian.
